Introduction:

ELTA (English Language Teachers Association of Albania) is an association which has been active in Albania since 2002. It was founded by a group of dedicated English teachers who saw the need for greater cooperation, integration, and professionalism in the field of English language teaching.

Mission Statement:

Fostering collaboration and cooperation among teachers of the country and of the region and also providing teachers with opportunities for growth; the professional development of teachers will in turn raise educational standards and improve student performance in schools.

ELTA has been active throughout Albania and has established links with counterparts in neighboring countries.

Objectives:

  • to coordinate English language activities to reach all English teachers in Albania , in both public and private education sectors

  • to organize and motivate the participation of the English teachers for training seminars and workshops at home and abroad

  • to support and protect the English teachers’ rights, negotiating with the Ministry of Education, Educational Directorate or Trade Unions

  • to help English teachers with their work by supplying them with updated materials (videos, cassettes, tape-recorders, CD-ROMs) and subscriptions to “FORUM” magazine

  • to initiate and organize national and international events and activities

  • to establish links and work together with similar associations abroad   

The Association will not follow political or economical aims. It is a non-profit, non-governmental association.

In order to reach its aims and objectives, the Association will implement various projects with other associations within Albania and abroad.

ELTA will strive to keep in touch with institutions to help reach its objectives.

ELTA will endeavour to involve the community in its work and encourage people to work together for a better future, preparing the next generation to enter Europe as equal partners.

ELTA promotes a cultural of education which supports lifelong learning in a wider scope outside of teaching and learning English.
