Greeting Message from ELTA President
This is supposed to be a magazine to help English teachers who are
teaching "English as a Foreign Language" in Albania. Yes, all of these pages are
dedicated to all ELTA members to share ideas and teaching experiences with one
another.
In the two coming years (2008-2010), I want to lead ELTA–ALB in further
developing and enhancing ELT/ESL teaching in Albania. I hope that every ELTA
member from all over Albania and our partners will seek opportunities for
professional development.
ELTA’s mission is to provide teachers with opportunities for professional growth and expertise in teaching and learning English. It will also raise educational standards and improve student performance in schools. ELTA’s aim is to foster collaboration and cooperation among teachers of the country, to foster links with DERs (Directories of Education in the Regions of Albania), the Institute of Curriculum and Training and the Ministry of Education and Science as well as to further strengthen links with our counterparts in the region and worldwide.
The teaching materials in this magazine are mainly lessons from the teachers’ classes that they have tried with their learners. They are written to encourage our classes to get talking to each other in English in order for all of us to get updated with the current ideas concerning teaching EFL/ESL in the Albanian schools.
All ELTA members are welcome to come up with new and interesting lessons and together we can advocate for our students, ourselves and our profession. Working together will help us be good experts in teaching English in our schools.
So we ELTA members must work to further strengthen our ties with our students as well in order to gain the respect from them. I hope that ELTA – ALB will be the place where all novices in the field of teaching EFL/ESL are going to be shared.
