English Language Teachers Association

Organization:     

   ELTA Albania is run by a Steering Committee which is responsible for all administrative, promotional and projects.  This committee holds elections every two years during conferences.

  • President of ELTA (2009 – 2010) - Shpresa Delija, Foreign Language Faculty, Tirana University
    Degree in English Language Teaching, Master’s in ESP and Doctorate in Linguistics, Shpresa currently teaches English Methodology and Psycholinguistics and Applied Linguistics. 

    She is also the Head of Methodology.  Member of the NTT, Shpresa is also a member of IATEFL, TESOL as well as a Reviewer of TESOL Journal and a SEETA committee member. 

    She has coordinated ELP for university students, English for the World of Work and Teaching English Global Home.


    Vice-President - Fitore Sulejmani, Secondary school “Kristo Isak” Berat

    Completed post-graduate studies in Psychology and Pedagogy and is presently the head teacher at the
    Foreign Language High School, Berat.  A member of the NTT, and a national trainer for the “Women’s Rights and Anti-Trafficking Education Program” and “Peace Building in Schools and Peer Education in Conflict Resolution Project.” 

    Has completed trainings and workshops outside
    Albania, such as in Great Britain, USA, Norway, Italy, Austria, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Macedonia, etc.


    Secretary for Public Relations - Ludmilla Stefani, Secondary school "Sami Frasheri" Tirana
    Chief of Foreign Language at “Sami Frasheri” High School, Tirana, she served as ELTA President from 2002-2008.  She is a member of the NTT and is a Designer of Albanian ELP.

     


     Secretary for International Relations - Vilma Tafani, Professor at “Aleksander Xhuvani” University, Elbasan
    Doctor of Sciences in Teaching and Learning Methodology of Foreign Languages. She teaches various courses on Methodology of EFL. A Fulbright Scholar, she has presented papers in many national and international conferences. She is involved in various projects concerning pre-service and in-service teacher training.

    She is a member of NTT, member of TESOL Standards Committee and a psychological advisor in the Women Counseling Center, Elbasan.


    Treasurer - Luis Seitaj, Economist, Part-time teacher, University “Eqerem Çabej”
    Degrees in English Language and Finance & Accounting, he has also presented in workshops during ELTA Serbia and ELTA Macedonia conferences. 

    He has completed training from the British Council, Bell Institute UK and the US Embassy.  Luis is the ELTA Branch Leader for the Gjirokastra Region (2003-2009)


    Assistant Secretary for International Relations - Semiha Molla, “Universi” Language school in Tirana
    Degree in English Language for Secondary School, she has co-authored Ministry of Education approved textbooks such as “English for You.”  She is a teacher in and the director of the UNIVERSI Center for Foreign Languages, Tirana.  Semiha is active in a study headed by the British Council and Ministry of Education titled “Baseline Study in Albania.”


    Events Coordinator & IT - Ymer Leksi, Professor at "Aleksander Xhuvani" University, Elbasan
    Degree in English and Master’s in Translation, currently teaches American Literature, Translation and Interpretation, Communication Studies, Ethics and Teachers’ Professional Development, ESP and Business English. 

    He also collaborates with OSCE, UNHCR, Peace Corps Albania, CEFA, Aid without Borders and local NPOs such as Another Vision, Help for Children, Albanian Helsinki Committee, etc.


    Ogerta Koruti Stroka
    Ogerta Koruti Stroka is a Phd student of Linguistics. She holds a Master's degree (M.Ed.) in English Linguistics from The Faculty of the Foreign Languages in Tirana, and a Bachelor's (B.A.) degree in Teaching, also from The Faculty of the Foreign Languages in Tirana.

    She has been teaching at the University of Tirana for 5 years, English for specific purposes, lecturing How to integrate new technologies in teaching and teaching seminars of Teaching skills to student-teachers of Master degree program. She is also part of the National Team of Trainers (NTT) in Albania, which offers much training for teachers throughout Albania. She has been trained by British Council Albania and UK.

    She is trained in teaching Legal English through an on line course offered by the US Department of State. She has been a presenter at TESOL in 2009, at ELTA – Serbia and ELTA Bulgaria in 2010. She has lectured at Tennessee University about the Albanian Education system in 2009. 

    Fozilet Simoni
    Fozilet Simoni has been a teacher of English for 25 years. She holds a Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Teaching from the Faculty of Foreign Languages in Tirana.

    She has been involved in in-service teacher training projects since she was trained by British Council in UK in 1995 and as part of the National Team of Trainers (NTT) in Albania.

    She is also part of the group of Designers of the National Curriculum for Foreign Languages in Albania, English Language Portfolio for Albanian Students and projects concerned with the integration of new technologies in the teaching of English.
    Miklovan Lugaj
    Miklovan Lugaj is a teacher of English in at “Rakip Kryeziu” in Fier. He has also worked for Army – Brigades Building , Tirane. He has worked as a tour guide and as an interpreter for OSCE/ODIR. He has done his best to empower professionally, so he has participated in all ELTA’s conferences and workshops in Berat, Durres, Elbasan, Fier and Tirana.
